Exodus Demo Shows Off Combat and Morality System
Archetype Entertainment recently gave press access to its upcoming game, Exodus. The session focused on a single infiltration mission aboard an orbital station called Khonsu, showcasing how the game plays in practice.
The mission combined third-person shooting with squad commands and environmental traversal. Players controlled Jun Aslan, who commanded two squadmates, Elise and Suliman, through an ability wheel that slowed time. The demo's combat leaned on calling in squadmate abilities while managing Jun's arsenal of rifles, shotguns, and grenades.
The game features a class system with room to specialize, including Soldier, Knight, Prodigy, Oracle, Operative, and Specialist builds. Players can also unlock new capabilities through knowledge points earned during exploration.
Exodus includes its own version of a binary morality system, where choices are framed as trade-offs rather than straightforward good vs. evil decisions. The game's narrative director emphasized that this system represents the push and pull between holding onto humanity and leaning into the colder, calculated worldview of the Celestials.
