Failed Fork Highlights Challenges of Recreating Bitcoin

Giacomo Zucco, director of Plan B Network, believes that recreating Bitcoin from scratch would be extremely difficult due to its unique circumstances.

Zucco made this statement in response to the failed BIP-110 fork, which attempted to change Bitcoin's consensus rules to combat spam on the network. However, despite gaining some traction, the proposal ultimately failed and led to a separate blockchain with only a fraction of the main network's hash power.

Zucco argued that even honest attempts to launch a cryptocurrency fairly today face obstacles that Bitcoin was able to avoid during its formative years. He pointed out that previous 'fair launches' have been compromised by early access to specialized hardware, which gives those who obtain it an unfair advantage.
