Fake Google Gemini Chatbot Spreads New Cryptocurrency Scam

Share

A new cryptocurrency scam has emerged, leveraging Google's Gemini AI chatbot to promote a fake investment opportunity called 'Google Coin.'

Researchers at Malwarebytes discovered a convincing website that mimics Google's branding and features a chatbot claiming to be part of Google Gemini.

The chatbot engages visitors in an investment pitch, encouraging them to send cryptocurrency payments. However, Alphabet, Google's parent company, does not have a cryptocurrency, making this a clear scam.

The chatbot uses visual cues associated with Google's Gemini AI to create a sense of legitimacy, including familiar branding and an 'online' indicator.
