Fake GTA 6 Leak Site Hits Crypto Wallets with Malicious Drainer
A fake Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) leak website is targeting crypto users with a malicious drainer, according to Malwarebytes.
The convincing-looking page presents itself as a fan countdown and invites visitors to download an alleged leaked copy of Rockstar Games' highly anticipated title. However, the site contains a cryptocurrency wallet drainer that can target multiple blockchain networks simultaneously.
The website combines genuine-looking GTA 6 information with a malicious payment scheme designed to connect a crypto wallet. Users who approve the wrong transaction could potentially lose more than the advertised purchase price, which ranges from $50 to 1 SOL (approximately $102 at the time of analysis).
Malwarebytes found errors in the sales copy and inconsistencies on the website, including a misspelled reference to downloading and a mention of GTA IV instead of GTA VI. The firm also discovered two separate pieces of malicious code in the payment option section, one targeting Solana wallets and the other capable of targeting wallets across multiple networks.
