According to The Canadian Press, the article in question used a photo of U.S. Senator Mark Kelly instead of CBC journalist Mark Kelley and featured a quote from Balsillie praising the platform's 'real income'.
Balsillie said he first learned about the article when contacted by The Canadian Press and denied any involvement with the cryptocurrency platform. He stated that his rights and those of unsuspecting online users were being violated, particularly in terms of identity theft.
The story was shared on LinkedIn by a company called Field Hollow, which has since been deleted from the platform. Balsillie is funding research on AI's impact and pushing for greater regulation to protect against these types of scams.
