Fake NFL Stream Draws Viewers into AI-Generated Crypto Scam

A fake YouTube stream claiming to show the Dallas Cowboys-New York Giants game on Sunday night actually led viewers into an AI-generated cryptocurrency scam featuring President Donald Trump.

The viewer, searching for the broadcast after being unable to find it over the air, stumbled upon a stream titled 'LIVE: New Your Giants vs Dallas Cowboy | Live Game' with a thumbnail that included NFL branding and around 11,000 viewers watching at the time.

However, instead of the game, the video showed a presidential news conference with Trump promoting what was described as a cryptocurrency backed by the U.S. dollar, urging viewers to act quickly by scanning a QR code displayed on the podium.

The event was not real; the likenesses and voices of the officials appeared to be generated or manipulated using artificial intelligence as part of an investment scam.

Cybersecurity researchers have seen scammers use major news events, celebrities, or popular live programming to draw viewers into fake YouTube broadcasts before directing them toward cryptocurrency websites.
