Farage Embroiled in Crypto-Fraud Scandal Over Undeclared Election Support
Nigel Farage is facing intense scrutiny over his finances after it was revealed that he accepted undeclared support from convicted fraudster George Cottrell before the 2024 general election.
Cottrell, who served eight months in a US prison for wire fraud in 2017, bankrolled parts of Farage's political operation, including recruiting and paying staff to overhaul his social media presence. He also provided Farage with a five-storey townhouse near Buckingham Palace, which he pays tens of thousands of pounds each month to use.
The support was not declared by Farage when he entered Parliament in 2024, but it has been revealed that Cottrell's mother gave Reform £750,000 last year. Farage is already under investigation over an undeclared £5 million gift from crypto tycoon Christopher Harborne.
