FBI Agent Accused of Stealing $1 Million in Crypto From Overseas Investigation
An FBI supervisory agent has been accused of stealing over $1 million in cryptocurrency from digital accounts tied to a suspect in an overseas criminal investigation.
The agent, Patrick Yaroch, reportedly made around 10-12 withdrawals using passcodes gathered during the investigation and deposited the funds into his own crypto wallet.
According to court documents, Yaroch confessed to the alleged crime last week and told a Department of Justice employee that it was 'eating him up inside' and he wanted to get it 'off his chest.'
The agent's home was searched and he was arrested over the weekend. The FBI has since fired him from the agency.
