FBI Agent Accused of Stealing $1 Million in Cryptocurrency
A former FBI special agent, Patrick Steven Yaroch, has been indicted for stealing around $1 million in cryptocurrency from the agency. The theft occurred during his time at the FBI, specifically between February 2025 and July 2026.
Yaroch was charged with receipt of stolen goods and interstate transportation of stolen goods, according to an affidavit filed by another FBI special agent.
After stealing the cryptocurrency, Yaroch reportedly told a Department of Justice employee that it 'was eating him up inside.' He also contacted FBIHQ on July 29 to set up a meeting about the theft, during which the value of his wallet was revealed to be around $1 million.
When the FBI went to collect property from Yaroch's residence, he initially surrendered key phrases for crypto wallets but later withdrew consent.
