FBI Agent Accused of Stealing $1 Million in Cryptocurrency
An FBI supervisory agent in Washington, D.C., Patrick Yaroch, is accused of stealing around $1 million in cryptocurrency from digital accounts tied to a suspect in an overseas investigation.
The alleged crime took place between 2024 and 2025, with Yaroch reportedly making 10-12 withdrawals using passcodes gathered during the FBI investigation.
According to court documents, Yaroch confessed to the crime last week, stating it was 'eating him up inside' and wanted to get it off his chest.
The alleged motive behind the theft is that the FBI could not or would not act against adversarial cryptocurrency accounts.
