FBI Agent Accused of Stealing $1 Million in Cryptocurrency

An FBI agent in Washington, D.C., has been accused of stealing around $1 million in cryptocurrency from digital accounts tied to a suspect in an overseas criminal investigation. Patrick Yaroch, a supervisory agent, reportedly confessed to the alleged crime last week.

The incident began in 2024 or 2025 when Yaroch allegedly started making withdrawals using passcodes gathered during the FBI investigation. He made around 10-12 transactions, taking money from accounts that were being monitored as part of an ongoing case.

According to the affidavit, Yaroch's concerns about the FBI's handling of cryptocurrency cases may have contributed to his actions. The agent had reportedly expressed frustration with the agency's inability or unwillingness to act against adversarial cryptocurrency accounts.
