FBI Agent Accused of Stealing Nearly $1M in Cryptocurrency
A shocking case of cryptocurrency theft has been uncovered within the FBI's own ranks. Patrick Steven Yaroch, a supervisory special agent with a Top Secret clearance, is accused of stealing nearly $1 million in cryptocurrency from government-controlled wallets. The money was allegedly moved to various transfer destinations between 2024 and 2025.
Yaroch's alleged crimes came to light when investigators discovered his use of ChatGPT to plan investments and financial planning after relocating to Europe. He had reportedly used the AI tool to discuss plans for investing $1 million, as well as seeking residency possibilities in countries such as Portugal, Italy, Turkey, and Greece.
After voluntarily contacting Department of Justice officials, Yaroch admitted to making poor decisions regarding cryptocurrency. However, he later revoked consent to recover wallet seed phrases and requested legal counsel.
