FBI Agent Arrested for Crypto Heist: $900K Stolen from Agency's Watchlist
FBI Agent Fired and Arrested for Stealing $900,000 in Cryptocurrency
A supervisory agent with the FBI's Washington D.C. office has been fired and arrested after allegedly stealing over $900,000 in cryptocurrency from accounts being monitored as part of a national security investigation.
The agent, Patrick Steven Yaroch, accessed the digital funds using his internal FBI access and transferred them to his own personal account. The FBI launched an internal investigation once allegations surfaced and ultimately arrested Yaroch last week.
Court records reveal that Yaroch used passcodes obtained during the investigation to withdraw funds from monitored accounts between 2024 or 2025, making up to a dozen transactions.
