FBI Agent Arrested for Stealing $900,000 in Cryptocurrency
A high-ranking FBI agent has been fired and arrested for allegedly stealing over $900,000 in cryptocurrency from accounts being monitored during a national security investigation.
The agent, Patrick Steven Yaroch, was based in Washington D.C. and worked on a team focused on activity linked to an 'adversarial nation.'
According to court records, Yaroch accessed the digital funds using his internal FBI access and transferred them to his personal account.
The agent reportedly used ChatGPT to ask for advice on how to move $1 million to an EU country, but was arrested last week after the allegations surfaced.
