FBI Agent Arrested for Stealing Nearly $1 Million in Cryptocurrency
A former FBI agent has been accused of stealing over $900,000 in cryptocurrency from accounts monitored by his agency.
Patrick Steven Yaroch allegedly used his internal access to transfer the funds to his personal account, citing frustration with government inaction over the misuse of crypto accounts.
The FBI fired Yaroch and arrested him last week on charges related to interstate transport of stolen goods and receipt of stolen goods.
According to an affidavit, Yaroch asked ChatGPT for advice on how to leave the US and become a resident or citizen of an EU country, with the AI agent providing a response tailored to Yaroch's age and lifestyle.
