FBI Agent Charged in Alleged $1M Crypto Theft via Internal Systems
A former FBI supervisory special agent has been charged in connection with allegedly diverting nearly $1 million worth of cryptocurrency from internal systems.
The complaint against Patrick Steven Yaroch alleges that he exploited his access to transfer cryptocurrency to wallets under his control, which he then used to generate yield on the decentralized lending protocol Suilend.
According to investigators, Yaroch admitted to making around 10 unauthorized transfers between late 2024 and at least one point in time. He estimated the total amount taken to be less than $1 million.
