FBI Agent Charged With Stealing $1 Million in Crypto From Investigative Wallets

A former FBI supervisory special agent has been charged with allegedly stealing over $1 million in cryptocurrency from investigative wallets tied to a foreign adversary.

According to a criminal complaint filed in a Virginia federal court, Patrick Steven Yaroch used his access to internal FBI systems to obtain wallet recovery credentials linked to an investigation involving a hostile nation.

He allegedly carried out roughly ten unauthorized transactions over several months, with the total amount approaching $1 million.

The stolen assets were later deposited into Suilend, a decentralized lending platform on the Sui blockchain, where they were earning yield when investigators recovered them.
