FBI Agent Fired for Allegedly Stealing $1 Million in Cryptocurrency
An FBI agent has been accused of stealing around $1 million in cryptocurrency from digital accounts tied to a suspect in an overseas investigation.
The supervisory agent, Patrick Yaroch, reportedly began taking money in 2024 or 2025 and made 10-12 withdrawals using passcodes gathered during the FBI investigation.
Yaroch may have taken the money due to frustrations with the agency's inability to act against cryptocurrency accounts, according to court documents obtained by the Wall Street Journal.
The agent has been fired from the FBI and his home was searched over the weekend after he confessed to the alleged crime.
