FBI Counterintelligence Agent Arrested Over Alleged $1M Crypto Theft
FBI Counterintelligence Supervisor Patrick Yaroch is at the center of a high-profile case involving national security interests, cryptocurrency, and an alleged insider theft from the FBI. Prosecutors claim that Yaroch used his official credentials to transfer nearly $1 million in digital assets from wallets linked to an adversarial nation, reportedly Russia.
The FBI believes Yaroch accessed the necessary keys through internal systems while working on a foreign-adversary case. The counterintelligence investigation involves sanctions evasion, cybercrime, espionage, and unauthorized cryptocurrency transfers.
Yaroch allegedly transferred the disputed assets in multiple stages from 2024 to 2025, using blockchain transactions to observe the movement of the funds.
