FBI Cracks Darknet Opioid Ring Using Blockchain Analysis
Two Florida brothers, Vladislav Chernyshov and Stanislav Chernyshov, were arrested on August 28 for allegedly operating a darknet narcotics vendor called 'BarbaraWhite.'
The FBI affidavit alleges that the brothers used Bitcoin to withdraw proceeds from three darknet marketplaces: Nemesis, Bohemia, and Abacus.
According to Chainalysis, the wallet network associated with BarbaraWhite received approximately $220,000 in cryptocurrency and sent around $230,000 to other wallets.
The investigation began after a fatal overdose in Arlington, Virginia, which was linked to a parcel connected to a BarbaraWhite purchase. At least 12 overdoses, including three fatalities, are attributed to the vendor's shipments.
