FBI Cracks Down on Hamas Crypto Fundraising

The US Department of Justice has announced that the FBI has seized $560,000 in cryptocurrency from Hamas, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization. The seizure was part of an investigation into Hamas's fundraising and recruitment efforts online.

According to Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg, the seizures 'deprive Hamas of resources it relies on to recruit and radicalize individuals online and finance barbaric attacks.'

The FBI's Albuquerque Field Office collaborated with human sources to identify and seize domains and servers controlled by the Al Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing.
