FBI Cracks Down on Hamas Crypto Network, Seizing $560K
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) conducted a 17-month investigation into Hamas's cryptocurrency fundraising network, resulting in the seizure of $560,000 and the identification of thousands of donors worldwide.
Hamas had been using a rotating wallet scheme to solicit donations, directing supporters to different wallets and claiming that this would make it impossible for authorities to track the funds. However, investigators discovered that all the wallets were funded from a single source, making it possible to attribute them to Hamas's operators.
The investigation combined blockchain analytics with domain seizure, allowing agents to intercept cryptocurrency donations still in transit. This included the capture of AlQassam.ps, Hamas's primary website, and its affiliated domains and servers.
According to court documents, the network received approximately 1.57 million USDT between late October 2024 and March 2025 alone, with total donations exceeding three million dollars by November 2025. The seized funds will now drive future counterterrorism investigations.
