FBI Cracks Down on Hamas Crypto Ops, Seizes $560K in 18-Month Operation
The FBI has been cracking down on Hamas's cryptocurrency operations over the past 18 months, seizing more than $560,000 in digital assets. The counterterrorism operation involved three seizure warrants executed by the Department of Justice (DoJ) on March 25, June 25, and October 10, 2025.
Federal investigators worked with Chainalysis, a private blockchain analytics platform, to expose and track Hamas's financial networks. They used tools like Chainalysis Reactor to identify cross-chain bridging, money mules, and rotating donation wallets.
The FBI identified recurring links between addresses controlled by the Al Qassam Brigades, including shared gas-funding wallets. This information was used to freeze targeted wallet addresses and intercept incoming donor transfers.
