FBI Fires Unit Chief Accused of Stealing $1 Million in Russian Crypto
An FBI unit chief has been fired after allegedly stealing nearly $1 million from cryptocurrency accounts linked to Russia.
Patrick Yaroch, who was detailed to the U.S. intelligence community, faces two federal counts of interstate transportation of stolen property and receipt of stolen property.
Court records show that Yaroch admitted making 'several very bad decisions' and acknowledged accessing internal FBI systems to transfer funds from cryptocurrency wallets to his own.
The transfers totaled approximately $925,426.07, with Yaroch making up to 10 transfers, according to the document.
