FBI Seizes $560,000 in Crypto from Hamas in 18-Month Operation
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been actively countering Hamas's cryptocurrency operations over the past 18 months, resulting in the seizure of over $560,000 in digital assets. The operation aimed to disrupt the terrorist organization's fundraising efforts and dismantle its primary online network.
Between March 2025 and October 2025, FBI agents executed three court-authorized seizure warrants on cryptocurrency transactions linked to Hamas. This was made possible through a partnership with Chainalysis, a blockchain analytics platform, which helped identify cross-chain bridging, money mules, and rotating donation wallets.
The investigation revealed that the Al Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing, used cryptocurrency to solicit funds and recruit supporters. The FBI's Albuquerque Field Office also dismantled the organization's digital infrastructure by seizing servers and web domains, including its primary website, AlQassam.ps.
