FBI Seizes $560K from Hamas Crypto Fundraising Network

Agents from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) cracked down on a Hamas crypto fundraising network, seizing nearly $560,000 in cryptocurrency. Instead of pursuing the money, the agents infiltrated the fundraising mechanism itself, using human assets to track down servers, domains, and rotating crypto addresses.

The operation resulted from collaboration between the FBI's Albuquerque Field Office and its Counterterrorism and Cyber units, as well as the Justice Department's National Security Division and prosecutors from the District of Columbia.

The seizure was approved by Magistrate Judge Matthew J. Sharbaugh on March 25, June 25, and October 10, 2025. A review of court documents revealed that Bitcoin, Ethereum, Wrapped Ethereum, Tether, and Tron were used in 18 addresses controlled by Tether and three accounts at Binance.

The FBI's takeover exposed the personal data of individuals who communicated with Hamas regarding donations, and it may lead to further investigations targeting individual donors. The Justice Department stated that the transparency of public blockchains makes it easier for investigators to track transactions, recreate the flow of funds, and determine where the money has gone.
