FBI Seizes Over $560K in Crypto From Hamas Network
The FBI conducted an operation to seize over $560,000 in cryptocurrency from Hamas' network. The funds were tracked through shared wallets, cross-chain bridges, exchanges, and stablecoin accounts using a combination of blockchain analytics, human intelligence, and court orders.
Investigations revealed that Hamas changed its transaction methods after the initial seizure, employing single-use donation wallets and bridges to transfer cryptocurrency from one blockchain to another. However, agents continued following the funds across these services and issued a third seizure warrant in October 2025 covering assets identified during the investigation.
The operation's success was due in part to the permanent nature of public blockchain activity, which allowed analysts to revisit prior transfers, compare transaction patterns, and connect later activity with infrastructure found during earlier cases. The network also continued interacting with over-the-counter brokers and cryptocurrency exchanges, creating investigative endpoints where blockchain addresses could be connected with customer accounts, transaction records, or assets held by a custodian.
