FBI Uses Blockchain Analysis to Unmask Darknet Opioid Distributors
Two Jacksonville-based brothers, Vladislav and Stanislav Chernyshov, have been charged by U.S. authorities in connection with a darknet opioid distribution operation.
The investigation linked their vendor account 'BarbaraWhite' to at least 12 overdoses, including three fatalities. Blockchain analytics tools were used to trace $230,000 in Bitcoin transactions associated with the operation.
According to the Justice Department, the brothers sold highly potent nitazene-laced pills under the guise of legitimate medications using marketplaces like Nemesis and Abacus since at least 2020.
