Fed Decision Looms Large Over Cryptocurrency Market Amid Rate Hike Fears

Market volatility continues to plague cryptocurrencies as investors await the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision. On Tuesday, Bitcoin plummeted by as much as 2.3% to $63,414, its lowest level in nearly 11 days, while Ethereum dropped 3.6%. The decline was largely attributed to rising expectations of a rate hike, which would increase borrowing costs and prompt capital to flow out of risk assets like cryptocurrencies.

Citadel Securities has forecasted an unexpected 25 basis point rate hike, citing its potential to bolster Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's credibility in addressing inflation. However, this move is not universally expected, with traders pricing in only a one-in-three chance of a rate hike.

Nvidia's new AI infrastructure deals have also contributed to market uncertainty, as investors worry about associated financial risks and the potential for circular transactions that could artificially inflate industry demand and valuations.
