Fed FOMC Meeting Looms: Rate Hike Odds Rise on Strong Jobs Report
The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is set to convene on September 15-16, following a strong U.S. employment report that exceeded expectations.
The August jobs report showed a gain of 162,000 jobs, significantly higher than the forecasted 55,000 jobs created.
This has led to increased hopes for a further interest rate hike by the Fed, with market odds favoring a 25-basis-point increase at 58.4%, according to CME FedWatch data.
The FOMC meeting will also feature new economic forecasts, which could provide insights into inflation and employment rates.
