Fed's Hawkish Tone Divides Analysts on Bitcoin Outlook
The Federal Reserve's decision to hold interest rates steady on Wednesday has left analysts divided on the outlook for Bitcoin.
Despite the calm reaction from the markets, with Bitcoin trading around $64,000, some experts are concerned about the implications of the Fed's hawkish tone. Andrei Grachev, managing partner at DWF Labs, believes that the Fed's decision signals a tolerance for pain and may lead to tighter liquidity, making it more expensive for investors to hold leveraged positions in cryptocurrencies.
Grachev expects institutional positioning to shift defensively immediately, with risk-on assets taking the biggest hit. He notes that Bitcoin has held up well so far, but a fresh hawkish surprise could negatively impact prices.
However, Can-Luca Köymen, investment strategist at Sygnum Bank, takes a more optimistic view, suggesting that the hawkish hold was already priced in by markets and therefore may not have a significant impact on Bitcoin's price.
