Feds Smash Hamas Crypto Fundraising Network, Seize $560K
Federal authorities have successfully disrupted Hamas's digital fundraising capabilities by confiscating over $560,000 in cryptocurrency and seizing key infrastructure. The operation, led by the FBI's Albuquerque division, targeted the Al-Qassam Brigades' online presence, including the domain names and hosting servers used for financial solicitation.
The authorities utilized confidential informants to track the constantly changing cryptocurrency wallet addresses distributed through encrypted messaging platforms. This intelligence gathering resulted in the confiscation of assets through three separate enforcement actions throughout 2025.
Assistant Attorney General John A. Eisenberg stated that the confiscations targeted Hamas's capacity to solicit funds and recruit operatives through digital channels, highlighting the vulnerability of their online assets to law enforcement action.
