Fertility Clinic Operator Loses Big on XRP and Solana Investments
Newgenivf Group Limited, a fertility clinic operator listed on the Nasdaq Capital Market as NIVF, made some unexpected investments in digital assets last year. The company revealed that it bought and sold a total of 146,432.14 XRP in 2025, generating a mere $10,849 in profit.
According to the amended registration statement filed by Newgenivf on September 10, the company began investing excess treasury balances in digital assets such as SOL, BTC, ETH, and XRP as part of its capital allocation strategy. The firm's primary business is IVF services, and it emphasized that the digital asset activity was not part of its core operating activities.
The company also disclosed that it bought 8.77 BTC and 8.95 ETH, but sold them all soon after. Only Solana (SOL) remained held at year-end, with a cost basis of $2,906,222 and a fair value of $1,630,827. This resulted in an unrealized loss of $1.28 million.
The situation has not improved, as the current SOL price is around $101.69, valuing the retained position near $1.32 million and widening the unrealized loss to roughly $1.58 million against the disclosed cost basis.
