FG Nexus Abandons Ethereum Treasury Strategy Amid Market Contraction
FG Nexus, a corporate treasury firm listed on Nasdaq, abandoned its Ethereum treasury strategy just under a year after launch. The company divested all its digital assets before June 30 and held no cryptocurrency at quarter-end.
The decision to liquidate came amid a broader market contraction that significantly impacted digital asset treasury companies. At its peak, FG Nexus held more than 50,000 ETH, but the firm began divesting its holdings this year.
FG Nexus reported just $144,000 in staking revenue during the first half of 2026, which was dwarfed by a $45.207 million operating loss from its discontinued digital-asset operations. The company's losses included a $41.167 million loss on ETH digital assets and $2.793 million of impairment on digital intangibles.
The cash proceeds from ETH sales returned substantial cash to the company's balance sheet, with FG Nexus reporting $60.956 million in gross sale proceeds during the first half. The company is now shifting its focus toward real estate development and has planned a pivot toward affordable housing.
