Fidelity-Linked Whale Buys 50,000 ETH Worth $95 Million
A significant Ethereum transaction has been spotted by blockchain tracking firm Onchain Lens. The whale purchased 50,000 ETH worth roughly $95.73 million from a wallet linked to Fidelity, one of the largest traditional financial firms in the crypto space. The funds were then split, with 36,530 ETH moved to a fresh wallet address about three hours after the initial purchase.
The pattern of buying large amounts of crypto from institutional-linked wallets and then moving funds to an exchange is often interpreted as a precursor to a sell-off. However, it could also indicate an over-the-counter (OTC) trade or a custodial arrangement.
While Fidelity's involvement in this transaction is not unusual, the whale's purchase of 50,000 ETH can still draw attention from market participants. The movement of $95 million represents a small fraction of Ethereum's daily trading volume, which regularly exceeds $10 billion.
