Fidelity Seeks SEC Approval for Staking in Ethereum ETF
Fidelity Investments has submitted an amended filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) seeking permission to incorporate staking into its spot Ethereum exchange-traded fund.
The move would allow the fund to put its Ether holdings to work on the blockchain network, potentially passing staking rewards on to investors.
This marks a significant step by Fidelity to expand the functionality of a spot Ethereum ETF beyond simple price exposure. If approved, Fidelity's fund would be among the first U.S.-listed Ethereum ETFs permitted to engage in native staking activity.
The SEC has historically approached staking-related products with caution, but the current leadership has signaled a more open posture toward digital assets compared to prior administrations.
