Fidelity's First Stablecoin Launches on Ethereum Blockchain
Fidelity Digital Assets has launched its first stablecoin, Fidelity Digital Dollar (FIDD), on the Ethereum blockchain. The digital dollar is designed to mimic the US dollar's value and will be used for on-chain financial services.
Fidelity serves over 50 million investors and oversees $17.9 trillion in assets under administration. It processes an average of 5.5 million trades per day, making it a major player in the financial industry.
The launch of FIDD marks Fidelity's expansion into on-chain financial services, adding to its existing digital asset strategy. This move follows other major financial institutions building their digital asset strategies on the Ethereum network.
