Fidelity's Staking Proposal Sends Ethereum Price to New Heights
Fidelity has filed an amendment to its proposed spot Ethereum ETF (ETH), allowing it to stake up to 100% of its ETH holdings and pay quarterly distributions. This move could increase institutional engagement with Ethereum and broaden demand for the asset if approved.
The proportion of ETH supply being staked has climbed to 34%, tying up circulating tokens and reinforcing potential scarcity effects. The Ethereum Foundation researchers have also submitted EIP-8361, which proposes a tapered issuance burn mechanism as staking participation rises.
Ethereum's price is currently trading above its short-term moving averages but below longer-term averages, reflecting mixed momentum signals. The Ichimoku Kijun level of $1,899 serves as immediate resistance, with conflicting oscillator signals and a rangebound outlook expected for the next 2-3 days.
