Fidelity's Withdrawal Limits Trap Bitcoin Holders for Weeks
Fidelity Crypto's daily withdrawal limits have raised concerns among Bitcoin holders, who may find themselves trapped on the platform for weeks. The advanced tier allows a maximum of $25,000 in crypto value per day, while standard accounts are capped at $2,000.
For someone holding $500,000 in Bitcoin, even the highest daily limit would take 20 days to clear. At the standard level, it would take a staggering 250 days to withdraw their entire position. With Bitcoin's current price exceeding $100,000 per coin, a single holder would need multiple days to fully withdraw their investment.
Reddit communities have expressed frustration with these limits, describing the feeling of being unable to access their funds as having 'large Bitcoin positions effectively trapped' behind Fidelity's daily caps. While Fidelity supports on-chain Bitcoin withdrawals and deposits in eligible states, the platform emphasizes that once initiated, these transfers are irreversible.
Cory Klippsten, CEO of Swan Bitcoin, argues that if you can't move your Bitcoin when you want, in the amount you want, you don't really control it. Swan imposes no maximum withdrawal size, allowing users to automate withdrawals to their own wallets and offering a self-custody product called Swan Vault.
