Fink Predicts Bitcoin Could Reach $700K with Institutional Adoption
BlackRock CEO Larry Fink has stated that Bitcoin could potentially reach $700,000 in value. Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos back in January 2025, Fink explained that this projection is based on a scenario where institutional investors and sovereign wealth funds allocate just 2% to 5% of their portfolios to Bitcoin.
The math behind Fink's prediction involves significant sums of money. Sovereign wealth funds collectively manage trillions of dollars, and even a modest percentage shift toward Bitcoin would represent an enormous wave of capital entering a market with a fixed supply of 21 million coins.
Fink has framed Bitcoin as a digital analogue to gold, an asset for people who are worried about the purchasing power of their local currency being eroded by inflation and monetary policy. He emphasized that this is not a speculative plaything, but rather an international store of value in an era when faith in fiat is wobbling.
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which launched in early 2024 as part of the first wave of spot Bitcoin ETFs approved by the SEC, has already become the largest Bitcoin ETF by assets under management. By December 31, 2025, IBIT held approximately 771,000 BTC, worth well north of $70 billion at prices above $100K.
