Fintech Giants Coinbase and Bybit Dominate CNBC and Statista's 2026 Ranking
Coinbase, Bybit, Circle, and Gemini led the list of top fintech companies in 2026, according to CNBC and Statista's annual ranking of 500 global fintechs.
The four companies, along with others, drove the growth of the fintech industry, which generated $650 billion in sales last year, a 21% increase from 2024. The financial services industry as a whole grew by just 6% during the same period.
Fintech companies made up about 12% of the total value of the world's 100 biggest initial public offerings (IPOs) in 2025, with listed fintechs reaching a record combined value of $850 billion. Key contributors to this growth included Adyen, Nu Holdings, and Robinhood.
The digital asset category, which covers companies making crypto services usable but excludes individual coins and blockchain protocols, saw significant growth. Companies such as Amber Group, ChainUp, Crypto.com, and StraitsX emerged in the Singapore group, while Bakkt, BitGo, Blockdaemon, and others made up the US entries.
McKinsey predicts that artificial intelligence will continue to shape the fintech industry, with companies deploying AI to build products quickly and compress cost structures. Stablecoins also play a crucial role, with the market expected to grow between $2 trillion and $4 trillion by 2030, representing an average annual growth rate of about 40%.
