Fired FBI Agent Accused of Stealing $1 Million in Cryptocurrency

A supervisory FBI agent based in Washington, D.C., has been fired and arrested for allegedly stealing over $900,000 in cryptocurrency from accounts monitored during a national security investigation.

The agent, Patrick Steven Yaroch, accessed the digital funds using his internal FBI access and transferred them to his personal account. He is accused of becoming frustrated with what he perceived as government inaction regarding the misuse of crypto accounts.

According to court documents, Yaroch made up to a dozen transactions between 2024 or 2025 and admitted to colleagues and investigators that he withdrew funds using passcodes obtained during the investigation. He even confessed to a Department of Justice employee, saying 'I (expletive) up.'
