Firedancer Launch Fuels Solana Price Rally Amid Mainnet Upgrade
Solana's SOL token saw a 5% price increase after Firedancer, a validator client developed by Jump Crypto, launched on its mainnet. The launch marks an end to Solana's extended beta period, according to co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko.
Firedancer has been in controlled testing for over 100 days and has shown promising results, with test environments processing over 1 million transactions per second. While adoption remains limited, with Firedancer nodes controlling less than 1% of total staked SOL, more than 20% of validators switched from earlier experimental clients in December.
The launch of Firedancer is an infrastructure upgrade for Solana, which could lead to higher throughput and capacity for transaction-heavy applications. This has already led to increased interest in Solana ETFs, with $11 million in inflows recorded on the day of the announcement.
