Flare Brings On-Chain Options to XRP with Derive Integration
Flare has expanded its FXRP offering to include on-chain options and perpetual futures through Derive, a platform that combines trading options with spot markets. This move comes as XRP network activity rises, but new-user growth remains stagnant.
The integration allows XRP holders to mint FXRP through Flare's FAssets system and deposit it on Derive. Users can then manage hedging, premium generation, and directional positions through one Portfolio Margin V2 account.
XRP averaged about 35,700 daily active addresses in August, up 35% from July's 26,400. However, new addresses stayed near 2,260 per day. FXRP settles in USDC when an option expires, meaning settlement does not move the underlying XRP.
Derive combines options, perpetual futures, and spot trading within one portfolio margin system, using infrastructure from Lyra Finance and having about $118 million in total value locked.
