Flare Staking Reaches 21.5 Billion Tokens After Tokenomics Revamp
Flare's tokenomics revamp has driven staking to 21.5 billion FLR, representing a roughly 34% increase since July. The changes made under FIP.16 have successfully cut inflation and tied more network activity to token burns and protocol revenue.
The revised economic model introduced by Flare in May reduced annual FLR inflation from 5% to 3%, lowering the issuance ceiling from 5 billion to 3 billion tokens. This has resulted in a gross yearly issuance of approximately 2.6 billion FLR, according to DefiLlama Research.
Transaction-fee burns have accelerated significantly following the July upgrade, with more than 40% of the total burned occurring after the update. The current burn pace sits at over 10 times its pre-upgrade baseline.
