Flare's XRPFi Expansion Accelerates XRP DeFi Growth
The Flare (FLR) ecosystem is expanding its DeFi offerings around XRP by incorporating lending, staking, trading, and yield. The network's XRPFi expansion is accelerating, with $200 million of XRP TVL and over 3.4 million FXRP DeFi transactions as of May. This growth narrative centers on Flare's use of XRP in multiple financial applications, rather than a single DeFi product.
FXRP is a 1:1 representation of XRP issued within FAssets, which brings XRP into programmable DeFi for uses like lending, trading, staking, or liquidity. The metric on FXRP minted shows growing XRP participation on Flare, with over 155 million FXRP minted since launch.
The expansion of XRPFi has led to new integrations, including institutional lending collateral and on-chain derivatives. This integration is significant because XRP does not have its own general-purpose smart-contract platform like other DeFi ecosystems, making Flare's XRPFi project crucial for building a decentralized stack using XRP.
