Flop Labs Unveils Implementation Specs for AI-Focused Flop Network
Flop Labs, led by Arthur Hayes, has released the implementation specifications for its Flop Network. This network is designed for AI agents and allows them to pay for AI inference using FLOP tokens. The network uses a consensus mechanism called PoUI (Proof of Useful Inference), which verifies that the AI inference was actually performed.
The implementation specifications, outlined in the Yellow Paper v0.5.0, detail how blocks are finalized, how AI inference is verified and paid for, how FLOP tokens are emitted, and how the protocol is governed. The parameters are pinned in an appendix to the document.
The Flop Network will use a governance system called OpenGov, which allows for protocol changes to be proposed through FIP (FLOP Improvement Proposal) documents. These proposals can then be voted on by stakeholders using the network's voting mechanism.
Hayes has stated that he plans to launch FLOP tokens in 2026 with a genesis block expected to be generated in early 2027.
