Flop Network Launches Cryptocurrency with Unusual Airdrop Timeline
The Flop Network is a new cryptocurrency project led by Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX. It aims to create an AI-agent economy where autonomous software uses tokens called FLOP to pay for digital resources such as compute, inference, memory, and more.
Flop Labs has announced that the token will launch with no presale or venture capital allocation, but has not yet published details on the token's supply, issuance schedule, or technical documentation. A large airdrop is planned for the fourth quarter of 2026, before the network's genesis block in the first quarter of 2027.
Applicants can submit forms to participate as GPU providers, validators, or content creators, but this does not guarantee eligibility for the airdrop. The project has been criticized for its unusual sequence of events, where the token will exist before the actual blockchain it is meant to represent.
