A team of researchers has successfully mapped an adult male fruit fly's brain and ventral nerve cord, allowing them to create a digital equivalent that can trade cryptocurrencies on Coinbase.

According to Alex Wormuth, a Coinbase software engineer, the 'fly' brain is linked to Coinbase's AI agentic software, enabling it to buy, sell, or hold BTC, ETH, USDC, and SOL in response to live prices.

The fly's current portfolio consists of $59 worth of USDC, almost $5 worth of BTC, $17 of ETH, and $17 of SOL, with a total loss of nearly one dollar after a day's trading.

This project builds on the recent release of a neuron graph by Google and a team of scientists at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Janelia Research Campus, which mapped an adult male fruit fly's brain with 166,000 neurons and 125 million synaptic connections.
