Forest of Dean police have issued a warning about a cryptocurrency scam targeting residents in the area.

The scammers claim to be lawyers who inform victims that they have substantial Bitcoin in a joint wallet, which can be released for a fee.

In one case, an elderly resident lost around £10,000 before police were able to intervene.

PCSO Peter Timmins urged everyone to be vigilant and not fall for the scam's promises of unexpected monetary gain.
